The ELAN (Epiarterial Laser ANgioplasty) Procedure
Dr. Ajoy I. Singh:
Dr. Ajoy Inder Singh Randhawa is a Cardio-vascular and Thoracic surgeon trained in Mumbai and Paris. He invented this procedure as a means to prevent progression and to eliminate disease of patients afflicted with atherosclerosis.
Douglas Hamilton, President of DWH Systems, Inc., has 28 years of experience in the design and development of imaging system technology and products. Mr. Hamilton possesses a systems engineering background with invaluable experience in product development and integration of advanced optical, digital, electronic and software based imaging systems. He has successfully developed over 27 hardware and software products for medical and industrial imaging markets all requiring expertise in image acquisition, processing, 3D manipulation and data extraction.
Dr. Anphong Nguyen:
Dr. Anphong Nguyen, Director of Software Development for DWH Systems, Inc. is responsible for the design and development of the ELAN system application and control software. Dr. Nguyen has been involved in advanced imaging and graphics software design for the majority of his career.
Dr. Patrick Kee:
Dr. Patrick Kee, MBBS, FRACP, PhD is the principal Investigator at the University of Texas conducting trials on the ELAN Laser Medical System.
Dr. Kee, is a Clinical Cardiologist and Research Scientist at the Division of Cardiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Texas and the Director of the Advanced Diagnostic and Experimental Therapeutic Laboratory. He graduated from the University of Adelaide Medical School in Australia in 1996 and completed his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in 2004. He is an expert in the fields of atherobiology, lipid metabolism, molecular imaging, and non-invasive cardiovascular imaging. His research focuses on unraveling the critical components involved in the development of the vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque, developing advanced imaging probes to detect various stages of atherosclerosis and investigating new devices for plaque stabilization. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.
Studies on White New Zealand Rbs (Lepus curpaeums) were conducted at the University of Munster - Liebneiz Institute for Atherosclerosis (LIFA). Lazer Zentrum Hannover (LZH) provided the laser Systems (OCT and femto-second micro-machining systems). Dr. Wolfgang Völker of Leibniz-Institut für Arterioskleroseforschung an der Universität Münster (LIFA) and Prof. Dr. Holger Lubatschowski Geschäftsführer / General Manager of Rowiak GmbH very kindly oversaw these studies.
Trials on Watnabe Heritable Hyper Lipidemic Rbs (WHHL) are scheduled for March 2015.
